Film Location House in Kent

Unimaginably Perfect Shoot Location for Photo, TV & Film

The extensive grounds of this wonderful 16th Century Wealden farmhouse include an exquisite English Cottage garden full of old-fashioned charm, colour and scent; several further acres of pastureland all surrounded by unspoilt rolling farmland as far as the eye can see. The Black House offers a secluded and private location that is simply perfect for anyone seeking a picturesque rural film and photographic location.

The Gardens

The cottage and walled gardens are exquisitely kept and hark back to the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett “The Secret Garden”.

There is a stunning array of plants and flowers as well as the magical seclusion of the gardens themselves. In true cottage garden style, the flowerbeds and borders are densely planted with flowers and shrubs chosen for their old-fashioned charm and informal appeal.

It is a wonderful mix of flowers and herbs mingled with an abundance of roses – shrub roses, climbing roses, and old garden roses with their lush foliage all in the most wonderful colours with perfect scent.

The wide range of carefully planted perennials include Hollyhock, Foxglove, Lupin, Aster, Old English Poppies, Delphinium, Lavender, Campanula, Digitalis, Astrantia and many more.

The Meadow

The 4 acres of meadow and pastureland is edged by the Sherway stream. In addition to a variety of beautiful native tress including field maple, Oak and Horse Chestnut, the meadow offers a traditional woven-willow arbour surrounded by beautifully appointed Iris beds
